CMLL

In a big surprise, Dr. Wagner Jr. and L.A. Park, who have been on the outs for years, will be coming back on the 8/28 show to likely build for something at the anniversary show. Park is going to bring indie guys to feud with Los Ingobernales (Rush & La Sombra & La Mascara). Park and Wagner were fired for no listening to orders and violating a doctrine about brawling in the stands at the 2008 anniversary show.

It looks like the match for them at the 9/18 Anniversary show will be Wagner Jr. & Rush vs. Park & Volador Jr. Besides the Atlantis vs. La Sombra main event, the other big match they've been teasing for months is Ultimo Guerrero vs. Thunder in a hair vs. mask match, which alone was not going to get the job done, which explains the sudden Atlantis-Sombra program. The decision to bring back Wagner Jr. & Park seems to be because All Elite drew such a big crowd with them earlier this year at Arena Mexico. CMLL has had the reputation for guys who left on bad business terms never come back, to the point that when Sin Cara/Myzteziz was fired by WWE and he was the company's biggest drawing card when he left, they made no play for him. This is very much a softening of that stance. The other thing with CMLL is that if you're loyal to them and a headliner, you can screw up on your own with personal demons like Shocker and Mr. Niebla, and it seems like they'll always bring you back.

They are doing the same ticket prices for this year's anniversary show as last year, so with a sellout, and with the two masks at stake they should be able to get it, they should equal last year's all-time record gate.

The 8/21 show drew 4,500 fans, slightly up from usual. It featured the finals of the Busca en un Idolo tournament that ended up being a major letdown. In the main event, Sombra & Rush & Mascara beat Atlantis & Maximo & Valiente in two straight falls. Atlantis was disqualified in the first fall for ripping off Sombra's mask. In the second fall, Tirantes was bumped and Sombra gave Atlantis a low blow to pin him, making it the third straight week Atlantis has been left laying to end the show. Mistico & Dragon Lee & Volador Jr. beat Felino & Cavernario Barbaro & Ultimo Guerrero in the semi. Guerrero replaced Negro Casas, who at 54, apparently was going to need three weeks instead of two to heal from a torn pec and torn biceps. Said to be a fun match with great spots. Volador and Mistico in the third fall finished off Felino and Cavernario. Thunder attacked Guerrero, left him laying, and cut a promo in English saying that he knows that Guerrero wants a mask vs. hair match, but he doesn't want it. Park returned before that match and did a promo, and first challenged Rush, but also challenged Wagner Jr.
